Natural & organic

These words are used loosely almost everywhere. Here is what we mean by them, and what we do not.

Natural

Describes ingredients or materials originating from natural sources. The exact meaning depends on the product and the rules that apply to it.

Organic

Refers to production under defined organic standards. It should be used only where a product actually meets the applicable requirements — so we use it only where that is true, and we say which standard.

Herbal

Generally refers to products containing plant-derived herbs or botanicals.

How we handle this

We show ingredients, product information and relevant certifications and documentation where they apply. Where we cannot substantiate a claim, we do not make it.
